Worship
St. George’s worship experience is joyfully centered in a loving community that shares God’s grace and love as we partake of the sacrament of communion.
Our style of celebrating our faith might be described as dignified and sacramental, but not “stiff” or “new wave.” We feel free to bring our love of Christ and of each other to our celebration dressed as formally or as informally as we want. Some wear a coat and tie, some wear blue jeans or shorts. Our service includes an Old Testament Lesson, a Psalm, a New Testament Lesson, and a lesson from the Gospels. This is followed by a lesson for life
Episcopalians believe in a Trinitarian God, which means a God of Creation, redemption, and an omnipresence presence full of love. These beliefs are stated in our liturgy as creeds that are spoken together as we worship. Father David’s sermons help us reach down inside and bring our everyday thoughts and ideas to the surface as we deal with our own struggles and lives. Our members appreciate a good sermon; it is their No. 1 quality desired in a priest.
There is a time during the service when we celebrate our love for each other as we proclaim and offer the Grace of God to our church family. There is an announcement time that often brings spontaneous applause and/or laughter. However the Sermon and Communion are the centerpieces of our time together.
Experienced lay readers read the lessons, prayers, and assist with Communion each week. All baptized Christians are welcome to partake of Communion.
We encourage you to come and visit us and share our Fulfilling worship style.
Palm Sunday is special time at St. George’s Parish members participate in services as Crucifers, Acolytes, and Chalice bearers.
Coffee and snack time after the service is a time for fellowship and good cheer.
