LESSONS FOR LIFE

Our rector is a teacher, not a preacher.
Sunday sermons are not worn out old recitations of dogma and rules.

Rather, these are lessons for life that we can take home with us to help us with the challenges that we face each week.

Recent Examples

Matthew 25:14-30

The parable of the talents is really about Christ’s admonition to face reality and for us to take risks.The slave with one talent buried it where the slaves with 2 and 5 talents took risks and grew. People who desire not to change unfortunately have their wish granted.

Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23;

The parable of the farmer sowing seeds tells us that those who land on fertile soil have the greatest opportunity for growth. The fact is, however, that the seed is what it is – with all that makes it.  Accept yourself, for you are who you are no matter what the soil. But we all still must grow.

Matthew 25:31-46;

We are all looking for Christ. It is where we look that is often the problem. We look up instead of around us. Don’t forget, we find Him everywhere, but he tells us where to look – in the hearts and faces of those in greatest need.
